Consultant Ophthalmologist

Seema Anand specialises in complex external eye disease, cornea and refractive surgery. She was appointed as a Consultant Ophthalmologist at South Tees NHS Trust in 2009. She moved to her current post at St James’s University Hospital Leeds in 2015, where she is the Lead Clinician for Ophthalmology and the Lead for Cornea and Refractive surgery.

She did her primary ophthalmology training in London and West Midlands followed by higher surgical training in West Yorkshire. She undertook advanced subspecialty training in cornea and refractive surgery at Flinders Medical Centre in Adelaide, Australia and Moorfields Eye Hospital in London.

Her professional activities include an NHS practice providing tertiary referral service for complex external eye disease, corneal and refractive surgery and private practice specialising in laser and lens-based refractive surgery. Her areas of special interest include keratoconus and complex corneal transplantation.  She has over 50 presentations and publications spanning the field of cornea and external eye disease.
