Consultant Ophthalmologist

Following his ophthalmology residency at Alexandria University in Egypt, Ahmed joined the team at Sussex Eye Hospital, Brighton, UK for a fellowship in cornea and anterior segment diseases.

Appointed as a Consultant Ophthalmologist by St James University Hospital, Leeds, and honourary lecturer of ophthalmology at Leeds University in May 2021. He is an experienced laser and lens refractive surgeon. Certified by the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, he was awarded PhD in Ophthalmology by Alexandria University (September 2020).

He completed his Master of Science in ophthalmology, studying the use of wavefront customised refractive correction of complex eyes in 2016 and obtained fellowship of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (FRCOphth 2017) exams, fellowship of the Royal College of Edinburgh (FRCSEd 2016).

Ahmed has published more than 25 articles in international peer reviewed journals, including three book chapters and one textbook on cataract surgery.
